Villafranca Montes de Oca is located 11 km from the start of the eleventh stage of the Camino Francés route, which runs between Belorado and Agés in the Burgos region, totalling a distance of 27.4 km.

This stage consists of two very different sections. The first acts as a warm-up – it’s a fairly easy walk with a constant, steady upwards incline, and it passes through the areas of Tosantos, Villambistia and Espinosa del Camino, finally arriving at Villafranca Montes de Oca.

Here is a convenient place to take a break and recharge, before starting the long 12 km walk through Montes de Oca, which takes about three hours. You will walk along forest paths surrounded by oak trees, pines and heather, leading you to San Juan de Ortega, which appears like an oasis in the desert. From here, there are just 4 km left until you reach Agés, where you can embrace your well-earned rest.
